About Us

From the Start

Horizon Boats International secured the Exclusive Agency for Horizon Motoryachts in 2006, John and Julie Rapmund company directors originated the company back in 2000 as a Marine Brokerage at Sanctuary Cove and have steered the company to the successful business it is today. 2008 saw Horizon Boats International take hold of the New Zealand Market and become the Sole Horizon Dealer for Australia and New Zealand.

Horizon Boats International stepped it up a notch in 2009 moving into brand new offices overlooking their Horizon Motoryachts on the Sanctuary Cove Marina. With a 36 Berth Marina this allows Horizon Boats International to display and market Pre-owned luxury vessels at a very high standard. This spectacular harbour in Sanctuary Cove allows for super-yacht access and mooring which also provides an International standard of Marine services and facilities.

The Marina Village is the heart of Sanctuary Cove, it is home to specialty shops including fashion boutiques, art galleries, dining and much more. So make a day of it, come and inspect our vessels and relax and unwind around the tranquil harbour and village.

Our office is open 7 days a week 9am to 5pm.

John Rapmund's boating knowledge began at a young age when he was first introduced to life on the water, learning to ski, after many years of fun he decided to turn his passion into his work becoming a ski boat salesman in NSW.

After moving to Queensland in 1997 he was approached to become a larger vessel salesman, then moved on to become the director of Boats International Pty Ltd.

Starting the company Boats International Pty Ltd in 2000 was just the start of this growing business. with currently a staff of ten employees and securing the Horizon Agency in 2006, it was obvious leadership was steering the company in the right direction. Hence Horizon Boats International Pty Ltd was created to house the Horizon Agency and Brokerage.

 

Sales

Colin Cox started in the Marine Industry in Sydney in 1987 selling vessels such as Mariner, Bertram and Caribbean Boats and general brokerage.

Colin moved to the Gold Coast in 2001 and became Sales Manager for Leigh Smith Cruiser Sales at Gold Coast City Marina for 2 years.

Colin joined Boats International in November 2003 and brings with him an extensive knowledge of all types of vessels for all uses and purposes.

Colin's extensive boatmanship abilities include skippering vessels all the way up and down the eastern coastline thus proving strong reliable captain qualities which are highly sought in this business.

Wayne started working life as a Boat Builder + Yacht Rigger straight from school where he soon moved onto sales, in those days cold moulded boats varnished inside and out.

In 1970, Wayne was selling Cars, and then in 1975 obtained his Dealers License. Operation was on the same site until 1987. From 1982 until 1987 Wayne also had a Motor Bike Shop.

From 1987-1991, Wayne had a Trailer Boat Yard, and was the Dealer for Maxum & Sea Nymph Boats, Evenrude & Force Outboard Motors.

Wayne has owned three larger boats, 32' half toner race yacht "Manaroa", 42' Hereshoff Ketch "Photina" and a 36 Pelen Cruiser "Vesper". He also raced offshore Power Boat during the 80's and was Skipper in a Jet Rescue Boat from mid 70's to mid 80's.

Wayne moved to the Gold Coast January 1991 and started work as a Broker for Australasian Boat Sales on the 19 January 1991. The business was renamed Boats International in 2000.

Wayne has now been in the same office, same desk for almost 20 years!

As a keen golfer Mark started working for Horizon Boats International on a casual basis to allow his commitment to his golf tuition. Currently Mark plays off scratch handicap and has all intentions to continue his golfing career and hopes one day to play the Pro circuit.

Mark joined Horizon Boats International in 2006 as junior detailer. The same dedication Mark puts into his golfing career has excelled his position with Horizon Boats International with a recent promotion to head of Warranty and Service. Mark has been well rewarded by Horizon clients around Australia. His cheerful manor to clients and experience with Motoryachts has seen Mark fulfill his position with to a very high standard.
